Responsibilities

  • STAR is looking for a Senior Safety & Loss Prevention Engineer with strong offshore experience.
  • The role is focused on technical safety engineering and loss prevention deliverables for offshore production facilities, FPSOs and related topsides systems.
  • This is a hands-on senior engineering role. Candidates must be comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • The Senior Safety & Loss Prevention Engineer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and coordinating key technical safety deliverables for offshore/FPSO projects, including:
  • Hazard management: HAZID, Bow-Tie, MAH control, hazard registers, ALARP demonstrations, Safety Case input, SECE identification and Performance Standards.
  • Process & functional safety: HAZOP support, SIL/LOPA, functional safety interfaces, safeguarding reviews and ESD/F&G interfaces.
  • Risk studies: QRA, fire & explosion studies, gas dispersion, dropped object, ship collision, EERA and F&G mapping.
  • Loss prevention engineering: firewater design input, hazardous area classification, active/passive fire protection, safety layouts, safety equipment and escape/muster/temporary refuge input.
  • Human factors: ergonomics, working environment, CCR review, task requirement analysis, valve criticality and maintainability/accessibility input.
  • Environmental support: ENVID, aspect & impact reviews, emission calculations and sustainability/energy-efficiency interfaces.

Requirements

  • Engineer diploma, bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 - 10+ years of relevant Oil & Gas experience.
  • Significant offshore experience is mandatory.
  • Strong preference for FPSO, topsides, offshore production facilities or floating units.
  • Experience in FEED and/or detailed engineering.
  • Experience with major safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, EERA, FERA, Bow-Tie, ALARP and SIL/LOPA.
  • Knowledge of SECEs, Performance Standards and Safety Case requirements.
  • Familiarity with fire protection, gas detection, hazardous areas, escape routes and emergency response design.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work hands-on, independently and pragmatically.
