Senior Marine Systems Engineer

As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.

Responsibilities

• Act as an independent Marine Systems Engineer within multidisciplinary offshore projects.
• Deliver high-quality, cost-effective Marine Systems designs for floating production assets.
• Contribute to the engineering of FPSOs and potentially Floating LNG units.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) independently, from conceptual phase (blank sheet) through to as-built stage.
• Contribute to conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases of marine systems.
• Ensure proper technical integration and interface alignment with related disciplines (Naval, E&I, Piping, HVAC, Process, Technical Safety, Regulatory).
• Apply classification society rules and international standards in system design.
• Support and participate in technical reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and related safety assessments.
• Evaluate, specify, and assess marine systems and equipment, balancing technical suitability with commercial considerations.
• Support project execution during peak workload periods.
• Potentially undertake short- or long-term assignments at international project offices or shipyards.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc degree (or equivalent professional certification) in Marine Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Higher Seafaring Education, or Operational Technology (AOT).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Marine Systems Engineering and Design, preferably across Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
• Strong knowledge of shipboard marine systems, obtained through:
• Marine Systems Engineering education, and/or
• Shipboard maintenance and operational experience, and/or
• Design & engineering experience within shipyards or engineering consultancies.
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop PFDs and P&IDs from concept through final documentation.
• Solid technical knowledge of conceptual and detailed design of marine and production systems on floating units (e.g. FSO, FPSO, LNG carriers, tankers, drilling units, semi-submersibles, TLPs).
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary interfaces within offshore engineering projects.
• Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g. ABS, DNV, BV, Lloyd’s) and applicable international regulations.
• Knowledge of HSSE requirements and implementation within offshore projects.
• Experience with technical safety review methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, etc.).
• Preferably experience with shipyards, marine equipment vendors, shipboard operations, or LNG carrier projects.
• Commercial awareness combined with strong technical judgment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
