Mechanical engineer Maritiem

As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.

Responsibilities

• As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work on complex and technically challenging maritime projects, contributing to the development of advanced mechanical systems and the integration of equipment and piping arrangements for naval vessels, floating offshore units, and specialized ships.
• Designing and engineering innovative mechanical systems throughout different project phases, from feasibility studies and concept design to detailed engineering and yard support.
• Developing equipment layouts and piping systems for a wide range of complex maritime applications.
• Acting as a technical sparring partner for the Lead Engineer and providing expert input on design decisions and engineering solutions.
• Guiding and supporting junior engineers, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the development of the mechanical engineering discipline.
• Working on multidisciplinary projects that vary from large-scale engineering programs to smaller, highly specialized assignments.
• Solving complex technical challenges by combining specialist knowledge, creativity, and practical engineering experience.
• Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and the implementation of new technologies within maritime engineering projects.
• Collaborating with experts from different disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for advanced vessels and offshore applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering within complex technical environments.
• Local candidates (based in Netherlands). 
• Strong expertise in concept design and basic design phases.
• Extensive technical knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering principles.
• Ability to assess technical feasibility and translate innovative ideas into practical engineering solutions.
• Experience working on diverse projects and the ability to adapt to different vessel types and project environments.
• Strong understanding of the overall project context and the ability to maintain a broad perspective while focusing on technical details.
• A proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Willingness to undergo a security screening as part of the recruitment process.
