Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities Process Engineering:
    • Develop Heat and Material Balances using simulation software.
    • Develop Block flow diagram , Process flow diagram.
    • Develop process system , for the construction planning as well as commissioning planning.
    • Develop Process Flow diagrams to show unit operations necessary to convert feedstocks into on-specification products, in the most economical manner
    • Define and size Equipment and Instrumentation to be implemented and issue relevant Process Data sheets and Package Duty Specification
    • Elaborate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P and IDs)
    • Elaborate Cause and Effect Matrix
    • Develop Control Narratives and Logic Sequences for the assigned systems.
    • Perform hydraulic and thermal calculations on piping systems, in steady state and transient operation
    • Define the utilities requirements and design the associated systems
    • Define the chemicals and catalysts requirements for the assigned systems and prepare the relevant summary
    • Define quantities and characteristics of effluents to be disposed to the environment
    • Support the preparation of Operating Manual and Test Run procedures
    • Implement contractual design philosophy
    • Check technical quality of calculations, simulations and deliverables produced as per Company Quality System
    • Take part of the multidisciplinary project reviews such as Plot Plan, P&IDs, HAZOP, 3D Model etc.
  • Key Responsibilities of Process Safety:
    • Maintain compliance with OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA's Risk Management Plan (RMP) standards.
    • Work with consultants to facilitate process hazard analyses (PHA) and layers of protection analyses (LOPA).
    • Facilitate pre-start-up safety reviews (PSSR) and management of change (MOC).
    • Apply root cause analysis (RCA) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to investigate and prevent the recurrence of unwanted incidents.
    • Facilitate internal audits to verify compliance with PSM/RMP requirements, identify gaps, document findings, and propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Participate in OSHA and EPA compliance inspections to ensure that any nonconformities are addressed with robust corrective action to prevent recurrence.
    • Support the operations, technical, training, and safety departments in developing and improving process safety initiatives, including operating procedures, training programs for operators, maintaining accurate process safety information, enhancing the mechanical integrity program, and managing changes to the covered process.
    • Become an effective member of the corporate safety team, providing support, knowledge, and expertise for all businesses around the globe.

Requirements

  • BSc / BEng Minimum of ten years of professional experience in the petrochemical- refining sector and at least five years leading process & process safety initiatives to minimize safety, environmental, and business risks in an operating facility, typically from EPC Contractor.
  • Direct involvement in hazard analysis, incident investigations, and change management.
  • Experience with risk assessment software, including Sphera preferred.
  • Well-developed understanding of Matrix management systems and organizational structures
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering design programs.
  • Understanding of European & international standards and regulatory authority requirements in the Process & Energy Sector
  • Review and approve engineering documents such as calculations, specifications, philosophies, datasheets and drawings to ensure compliance with specification and functional integrity.
  • Perform safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews - What If, Hazop,HEMP, LOPA & SIL Assessment, etc.
  • Ensure all deliverables are aligned with company and client procedures and applicable standards; ensure documents are originated, checked and approved by suitably competent personnel.
  • Liaise with project team, contractors and vendors.
  • Lead on project technical decisions in electrical-automation and control systems.
  • Experienced in Pretreatment unit , Biodiesel , SAF and renewable energy is desirable.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, process safety engineering, or related technical discipline.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels, including interfacing with and directing contractors.
    • Extensive knowledge of process safety management as defined by OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and analyze data to develop strategic and tactical plans.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint capabilities.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CCPSC) are a plus
    • Review and approve engineering documents such as calculations, specifications, philosophies, datasheets and drawings to ensure compliance with specification and functional integrity.
    • Perform safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews - What If, Hazop,HEMP, LOPA & SIL Assessment, QRA …etc.
    • Attend internal and external project review meetings.
    • Monitor changes in scope of work and raises change notification with line manager.
    • Input to project plans and schedules and cost estimates.
    • Identify the scope of work required to undertake a project and allocate the appropriate electrical and C&I resources.
    • Estimation of deliverables and hours required to deliver a project in term of Process &Process safety Physical Demands
    • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis at side during the EPC phase, if required.
    • The ability to climb tank stairs and ladders, navigate uneven outdoor surfaces, and enter confined spaces. during the EPC phase, if required.
    • Ability to drive and fly to conferences and meetings domestically & internationally.
    • Willingness to work unusual hours, including occasional nights and weekends, when needed.
    • Normal working hours from 8:00 till 17:00, 12:00 to 13:00 is lunch break.
    • No remote work, 5day per week present in office.
    • Fluent in English and knowledge of Dutch language is plus.
