Lead Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• You will be part of the Plant Engineering advisory group. This group brings together around 100 colleagues specializing in process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & automation, and civil & structural engineering.
• Every day, we work on innovative projects, technologies, and solutions that help build a better future. We support our partners with the design and execution of complex, multidisciplinary building and process challenges, mainly for leading multinationals in sectors such as Food, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and R&D.
• In our projects, we collaborate closely with other areas of expertise within the organization, including building physics, fire safety, and project management. Our aim is to deliver excellent results in an open, supportive, and collegial environment. We operate at the forefront of developments such as Fastlane, the energy transition, and parametric design. The knowledge and experience we gain are applied in creating sustainable, future-ready facilities across our entire project portfolio.??
• As Lead Process Engineer, you are responsible for the process design and the implementation supervision of projects within your projects. Projects vary from small-scale renovations to mid-scale new construction projects in life science industry.
• You often work as part of a multidisciplinary project team together with other disciplines and the project manager.
• From time to time, you are also responsible for your own projects as a project leader.
• You also coach new juniors and medior engineers.
• Translate customer needs into a technical scope and ensure a safe, well-designed process in close collaboration with clients and colleagues;
• Take responsibility for time, budget, progress, and quality within your discipline across projects;
• Lead the development of key deliverables such as P&IDs, mass & heat balances, equipment and line lists, process calculations, safety studies, and datasheets;
• Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team in front-end consultancy, feasibility, concept, and basic engineering projects;
• Engage with contractors and suppliers, assess offers, supervise execution, and coordinate with external engineering partners and internal teams.

Requirements

• To succeed in this role, you bring a strong technical foundation, leadership experience, and the ability to operate in complex, multidisciplinary environments.
• A university degree in process technology, food technology, chemical engineering, or life sciences;
• At least 10 years of experience in a process engineering role within a consultancy or engineering firm;
• Practical experience in multidisciplinary teams and sectors such as food, pharma, or fine chemicals;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both Dutch and English, and you’re comfortable working in international, culturally diverse environments;
• The flexibility to travel and the ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships.
