Responsibilities

  • We are looking for an Instrumentation Engineer who can progress to the role of Controls Engineer.
  • Before transitioning into the Controls Engineer role, the successful candidate will first spend approximately one year working as an Instrumentation Engineer. During this period, the candidate will be thoroughly trained in company products, standards, and organizational structure.
  • We are seeking a candidate with several years of experience in an engineering environment, preferably in instrumentation and/or controls engineering. In the Controls Engineer role, you will not be directly involved in automation programming. Instead, your main responsibility is to understand the process in depth and translate it into control narratives and logic or functional diagrams. 
  • As an Instrumentation Engineer, you are responsible for the selection of instruments for the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG).
  • You prepare technical specifications for instruments to be purchased and evaluate supplier quotations and documentation.
  • You work closely with other disciplines such as process, design, and supply engineering to ensure contractual requirements are met and interfaces are correctly implemented.
  • Typical deliverables include instrument lists, equipment specifications, and technical datasheets. Your scope covers transmitters, temperature element assemblies, local instruments, flow devices, instrument hook-ups, and instrumentation on package units such as burners and SCR systems.
  • As a Controls Engineer, you define the boundary conditions for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the HRSG. You prepare all required documentation for the correct implementation of the HRSG control philosophy and participate in customer and site meetings related to safety, controls, and testing.
  • You collaborate closely with instrumentation, electrical, thermal, and design disciplines to ensure that contractual requirements are met and controls are correctly implemented.
  • Your responsibilities include preparing system descriptions (control narratives), functional control diagrams, defining start-up, shutdown, and operating philosophies, participating in HAZOP studies and SIL assessments, supporting burner management systems, participating in factory acceptance tests for process control systems, and providing site support related to controls.

Requirements

  • You have a Bsc. or Msc. degree in a discipline that has common grounds with the subject matter (for example Chemical Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Process Technology
  • At least 3 years of experience as instrumentation or controls engineer.
  • You have experience working with databases and are able to quickly familiarize yourself with new software.
  • General knowledge of DCS systems and preferably have knowledge of Siemens T3000 controls system or SIMATIC PCS 7
  • Knows how to convert functional requirements into clear input for the PCS programmer.
  • General knowledge of measurement and control technology.
  • Good understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer technology
  • Communication and coordination with other disciplines is of great importance in this position. We ask for a communicative employee who can act as a reliable partner in a project team.
  • You are able to act independently and know how to handle tight schedules.
  • You know how to distinguish between main and side issue
  • Excellent English skills (both written and spoken.
