Responsibilities

  • Specify, monitor, and advise on all metallurgical, fabrication, welding and NDE aspects (including QA/QC), during engineering, procurement, construction and offshore operation project phases of various product (FPSO, FSO, MS, PLEM and Calm Buoy).
  • This includes pressure retaining equipment, piping and structural components associated with the company product lines.
  • Coordinate, execute and control the Metallurgical and Welding activities in Projects and/or proposals in accordance with Project requirements within the assigned budget, time schedule and quality standards.
  • Ensure that manufacturers, construction yards and suppliers comply with company requirements, Client requirements and applicable international rules, codes, standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for man-hours estimation and monitoring of engineering budget for the field of expertise within the projects.
  • Provide global support to company group companies and offices, to ensure that industry standards are met.
  • The range of services includes manufacturers and product technical qualifications, specification development, specialist technical advice and failure investigations.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to standardize, simplify and improve efficiency of ways of working.
  • Development and compilation of project specifications.
  • Reviews the Client technical documentation and all relevant legislation, standards, specification and code requirements.
  • Participates to the engineering man-hours estimation for the metallurgical and welding activities.
  • Complies with the Group Technical Standards and GEMS processes, raises comments and deviations, when necessary.
  • Participates to the definition of the metallurgical and welding activities list of deliverables, time schedule and controls activities in accordance with Contract requirements.
  • Provides assistance to the Engineering disciplines on subject matter.
  • Ensures quality and compliance of metallurgy, welding, NDE requirements in equipment packages, bulk supplies and adherence to applicable project specifications.
  • Interfaces with Client, Subcontractors and Yard for resolution of metallurgy and welding issues, as required.
  • Carries out technical audits and evaluations dedicated to subject matter aspects of bulk material/ equipment Suppliers and Subcontractors, including qualification programs.
  • Reviews the materials deliverables produced by bulk material/ equipment Suppliers and Subcontractors.
  • Advises on welding, fabrication and metallurgical matters, as required.
  • Assists material / equipment failure investigations and engineering assessments as required.
  • Suggests suitable actions to prevent, adsorb or minimize any deviations from approved time and budget.
  • Collects Project Lessons Learned for continuous improvement implementation.
  • Keeps abreast of relevant developments / tools for metallurgical and welding activities and initiate methodologies improvements.

Requirements

  • 10 years’ experience in metallurgy, welding, NDE for FPSO, FSO, FLNG, mooring systems, during FEED, detailed engineering and execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgy, Petroleum, Materials Science or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification from materials related professional association such as IWE, IOM3, TWI is required.
  • Principle knowledge of:
  • International Offshore industry design, materials and fabrication codes & standards, such as  ASME, AWS, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM, ABS, BV, DNV, LR related to metallurgy, welding and material selection for CS/LTCS and CRA materials.
  • Functioning principles, fabrication technologies and build characteristics of the equipment used in offshore construction and process plant.
  • Knowledge of the functioning principles behind material selection for corrosion control, common corrosion challenges and failure mechanisms, CP systems (ICCP and SACCP), painting, lining, insulation and fireproofing is a plus.
  • Good communication skills, sense of ownership, ability to take initiative.
  • Team-player who delivers in a multicultural environment, willing to share knowledge, standardize and simplify.
  • Able to work in multitasking mode, using design thinking principles and handling multiple projects at the same time with high efficiency.
  • Proactive, self-propelled individual that can find ways to deliver the expected results in the most efficient way.
  • Office presence few days per week on a weekly base is required.
  • Availability to traveling to yards, fabrication sites and vendor premises worldwide [business trips]
  • Ability to manage several activities in parallel, combined with flexibility and strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent level of English, both written and spoken.
