Responsibilities

  • The Work Preparator / Project Engineer is responsible for independently managing and preparing small to medium?scale technical projects and plant modifications from concept to execution.
  • These projects typically originate from business or production needs and include mechanical and electrical interventions in a varying industrial environment, starting with a focus on hydro and pyro installations.
  • Typical projects include, but are not limited to
  • Installation of new process equipment (e.g. filters in production environments)
  • Mechanical design and implementation of limited plant modifications
  • Reliability and maintenance-driven improvement projects
  • Coordination of electrical and mechanical installation activities
  • Primary Tasks and responsibilities
  • Translate business or production ideas into concrete technical proposals, including technical clarification, feasibility assessment, and scenario analysis for complex problems
  • Prepare and setup an technical proposal for discussion and approval according to the Management Of Change procedure.
  • Overview, plan, prepare, coordinate, and follow up technical works and projects with the objective of executing them safely, correctly, within scope, and within agreed timelines, while ensuring the reliability and availability of installations
  • Independently develop approved solutions into detailed work preparation packages, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Prepare projects administratively, technically, and from a safety perspective, including cost estimates, technical descriptions, risk analyses, and required documentation in line with internal procedures
  • Request, technically compare, and follow up quotations; support supplier selection in collaboration with purchasing; and ensure timely ordering and reservation of materials and services.
  • Prepare installations for execution, including mechanical and electrical interfaces, installation readiness, and coordination of execution activities on site.
  • Supervise, monitor, and adjust the execution of assigned works to ensure compliance with planning, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and financial data in the designated systems to ensure accurate administrative follow-up and proper spare?parts management.
  • Prepare and perform Task Risk Analyses (TRA) and contribute to Process Risk Analyses (PRA) to ensure safe execution of works.
  • Formulate improvement proposals for departmental processes and, after alignment with line management, implement these improvements to continuously enhance efficiency and quality of service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electromechanics, or equivalent experience.
  • Min. 7yrs hands-on experience of mechanical and electrical installations in an industrial environment
  • Good understanding of automation and control systems; PLC knowledge is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with project-based working methods, including basic project planning, progress tracking, and reporting (Excel-based).
  • Ability to read, understand, and produce technical drawings:
  • Creating detailed drawings is a plus but not a fulltime activityMinimum requirement: ability to sketch, interpret, and validate drawings
  • Proficiency with MS Office and experience with AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor (or willingness to further develop these skills).
  • Non-Technical profile requirements
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, hands-on mindset.
  • Able to work independently on smaller projects and modifications while maintaining alignment with stakeholders
  •  Structured and methodical working style, with attention to safety, quality, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with frequent on-site presence and interaction with operators, maintenance teams, and contractors.
  • Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and reliability enhancement.
  • Methodology / Certification requirements
  • VCA certification (mandatory or to be obtained shortly after start).
  • Proven experience or affinity with project-based working methodologies is a strong advantage.
  • Formal diploma in a mechanical and/or electrical engineering discipline.
  • Language proficiencies
  • Dutch: fluent (spoken and written)
  • English: professional working proficiency
