As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Review approx. 500 drawings, specifications, procedures, and manuals generated by the FEED-EPCI Contractor and package vendors. 
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements while working with FEED-EPCI Contractor to optimize system operability and maintainability within project cost and schedule constraints. 
  • Work with the Company’s production unit and the FEED-EPCI Contractor to evaluate any lessons learned on existing FPSO’s for potential application to this design.
  • Serve as Company’s Package Manager for approx. 30 vendor packages (potentially including cargo export hose reel, pedestal cranes, riser pull-in winch, helicopter refueling package, etc.).  Participate in vendor design reviews, monitor construction quality and schedule, participate in factory acceptance tests and track any deficiencies to closure.  Visit the FPSO integration yard in Singapore as required to support Company’s commissioning team with receipt / installation / commissioning of marine packages.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews (30% stage / 60% stage / 90% stage) of the FPSO and work with future FPSO Operations team to assess access / operability / maintainability for various marine equipment and systems. 
  • Participate in various HAZID’s, HAZOP’s, and risk assessments related to the FPSO’s marine systems.  Take lead role on various action items (est. 150 items) and work with Company and FEED-EPCI Contractor specialists to develop and implement solutions.
  • Support the Company site team monitoring the construction of the FPSO donor hull (a newbuild 2 Mbbl barge) in Shanghai, China.  Assist with factory acceptance tests, completion and commissioning activities, dock trials, river trials, and delivery / sailaway planning activities as required.
     

Requirements

  • Serve as subject matter specialist on the design, construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the marine machinery and systems (essential and emergency diesel generators; fuel oil, lube oil, cooling, and compressed air systems; cargo and ballast systems; hotel systems; etc.) and subsea installation systems (riser pull-in winch; umbilical pull-in winch; mooring line pull-in winch; etc.) typically found aboard FPSO’s.  Act as Company representative on a small Company team overseeing the design, procurement, and construction activities of a FEED-EPCI Contractor for a 2 Mbbl capacity newbuild FPSO.
  • (R) B.Sc., B.E. or equivalent in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture w/ courses including but not limited to mechanical engineering, machinery design, fluid systems, thermodynamics / heat transfer and marine electrical technology
  • (p) M.Sc., M.E. or equivalent in any of the above fields
  • (R) Minimum 15 years work experience in maritime and / or offshore engineering and operations; the preferred candidate will have both 1) minimum 5 years operations experience aboard an FPSO; and 2) minimum 5 years experience ashore in the design, construction, and management of FPSOs and their associated marine equipment and systems
  • (S) An STCW Chief Engineer certificate of competence (active or expired), or an STCW Second Engineer certificate of competence (active or expired)
  • (p) (for U.S. citizens) A professional engineer’s license issued by a competent jurisdiction
  • Strong knowledge of the regulations and standards commonly used in the marine vessel and offshore industry (IMO conventions, classification society rules, etc.) and experience interacting with classification society engineering departments and field surveyors
  • Familiarity with the latest marine systems and equipment technology aboard FPSO’s, with ability to develop functional specifications accounting for both technical and commercial considerations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Autodesk Navisworks 3D software
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to perform data analyses to identify trends and leverage data to drive effective business decisions
  • Strong safety culture with a willingness to engage the workforce at various production sites in the furtherance of the Company and project’s safety values.

  • Solid leadership skills with ability to actively listen and influence without authority in a fast-paced, collaborative client-contractor environment

  • Est. 25% travel, trips up to one week duration, Europe / China / Singapore
