As (Lead) HVAC & Services Systems Engineer, your tasks will include:
Act as the Owner of requirements (HVAC & Services Systems) by defining and/or understanding the systems requirements.
Act as the Owner of design (HVAC & Services Systems) providing design inputs to the contractor, ensuring the contractor uses the correct inputs, and ensuring the design complies to the requirements, using engineering judgement to assess the methodology/design criteria/design approach, ensuring the [preliminary] safety analysis report ([P]SAR) is aligned with the design, overseeing external interfaces, ensuring the design is construct-able, commissionable, operable, maintainable and decommission-able.
Act as the Owner of Design Baseline (HVAC & Services Systems) by reviewing and accepting the design baseline for HVAC & Services Systems.
Intelligent Customer Service by reviewing and accepting the design baseline for HVAC & Services Systems.
Act as the Owner of External interfaces (with all the authorities involved in the discipline, e.g. municipality, safety region, etc.…) by understanding the needs of the HVAC & Services Systems, supporting in presenting the design to the Authority for Nuclear Safety & Radiation Protection (ANVS) and other authorities and act as Work Package Owner for Contractor led work packages.
Act as the Subject Matter Lead (HVAC & Services Systems) by applying expert knowledge in review of the design, application of codes and standards (C&S) and identifying technical risks.

Right Design review: Perform right design reviews on detailed design deliverables by checking that the design complies with the input requirements:

Monitoring performance of delegated design authority: Monitor the performance of the delegated design authority by conducting audits and checks on systems to identify risks associated or corrective actions with the system
Correct Design: Apply engineering judgement to perform correct designs reviews on a high level considering the following:
Correctness of design input used.
Correctness approach/methodology used.
Correctness of Verification & Validation (V&V) approach and outcome of the V&V process.
Correctness of design output.
Interfacing with PALLAS appointed third party reviewers.

Licensing for discussions with the Authority for Nuclear Safety & Radiation Protection (ANVS) and permitting

Requirements
We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert, who is:
Knowledgeable in the requested field taking responsibility of your assigned tasks and systems.
Proactive and solution orientated.
Able to work in a team, work with stakeholders and do efficient reporting to her/his manager.
Worked with contractors before.
You have a degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of professional experience, including experience in the nuclear industry, in HVAC, Services and with systems engineering.
You have relevant experience (12 months or more) in one or more of the following projects:
Nuclear Research reactor in Argentina (RA-10), Brazil (RMB), Australia (OPAL), Germany (FRM) or Belgium (BR II);
You are able to understand the position as an Owner or as a client.
You have also experience in the following technology:
Nuclear HVAC;
Purchase specifications for equipment of HVAC and other services systems;
Interface management;
Systems engineering principles as defined by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
Desired skills
In your role you will oversee the design of all the HVAC Systems, both nuclear and conventional, and the other services and utilities systems in both the nuclear building and the conventional/auxiliary buildings. Expertise in the following systems is desired:
Nuclear HVAC Systems, including
reactor containment HVAC,
hot cells HVAC and confinement,
HVAC instrumentation and control equipment;
Demineralized water system;
Industrial Gases System;
Compressed Air System;
Breathing Air System;
Hot and cold tap water;
Sewage water drainage;
Rainwater drainage;
Conventional Waste handling facilities.
You will not perform the design work but you will need to assess whether the design fulfils the requirements. As a result, a basic knowledge of the Codes & Standards related to HVAC and Services systems is preferred.
