Enterprise Architect

As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and govern end-to-end solution architectures for IT and Digital initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable and compliant with IT standards, architectural principles and reference architectures.

• Operate at the intersection of business requirements, project delivery and Enterprise Architecture governance, with a focus on execution quality, architectural consistency and reuse.

• Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures aligned with company standards, principles and reference architectures.

• Translate business and functional requirements into robust, scalable, secure and supportable solution designs across application, data, integration, infrastructure and security domains.

• Evaluate SaaS solutions, cloud services and technology platforms against architecture, security, integration, data and compliance requirements.

• Support technology qualification, proof-of-concept activities and vendor architecture assessments.

• Review vendor solution designs and challenge non-standard approaches where required.

• Reuse and adapt existing reference architectures, architectural patterns and building blocks to ensure consistency and accelerate delivery.

• Produce and maintain solution architecture documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs), throughout the initiative lifecycle.

• Ensure compliance with the company's Digital initiative execution process and architecture governance framework.

• Collaborate with Digital Solution Leads, IT Project Managers and delivery teams across multiple concurrent initiatives.

• Participate in and, where relevant, lead architecture and technical design workshops during project delivery.

• Document architectural decisions, risks and deviations to ensure traceability and alignment with Enterprise Architecture governance.

• Design solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure technologies, including IaaS, PaaS, integration, security and data platform services.

• Assess platforms, services and solution components against IT guidelines and reference architectures.

• Provide clear architectural recommendations, including trade-off analyses and design rationale.

• Contribute to RFI/RFP processes by defining and reviewing technical and security architecture requirements.

• Ensure alignment with enterprise data architecture, integration standards, master data principles and information management requirements.

• Experience with industrial and enterprise platforms such as AVEVA, IFS and Cognite is a strong asset.

• Maintain solution architecture documentation and artifacts within Enterprise Architecture tools; experience with Bizzdesign HOPEX is a strong plus.

• Ensure solution designs are properly linked to business capabilities, applications, data and technology layers.

• Promote reuse, standardization and simplification through architectural patterns, standards and reference architectures.

• Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, IT delivery teams and architecture peers.

• Facilitate alignment across application, data, integration, infrastructure and security architecture domains.

• Act as a trusted architectural advisor throughout solution design and delivery, particularly in complex, multi-vendor environments.

• Deliver SaaS vendor IT questionnaire assessments, including scoring matrices, where required.

• Prepare presentations for the Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB).

• Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Technical Architecture Documents (TADs) and integration architecture designs.

• Prepare technology qualification assessments and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).

• Provide architecture-related input for RFI/RFP processes.

• Maintain and document architecture landscapes (cartography) in Bizzdesign HOPEX.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect in complex, multi-project environments.

• Strong experience with distributed and web-based application architectures.

• Experience with data and integration architectures, including APIs, event-driven integration and message-based integration.

• Solid understanding of modern platforms and architectural patterns, including cloud-native architectures, API management, containers and platform services.

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure architecture, with a focus on architecture and design rather than development.

• Experience designing AI-enabled solutions, including Generative AI (GenAI), AI agents and model integration, taking security and compliance considerations into account.

• Experience with Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Foundry is a strong plus.

• Experience with industrial or asset-centric platforms, such as AVEVA, IFS and Cognite, is a plus.

• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps delivery models.

• Focus on solution architecture design, standards and governance for projects with an emphasis on AI capabilities; this is not a hands-on software development role.

• Strong analytical, structuring and architectural design capabilities.

• Ability to work on multiple initiatives in parallel and manage architectural priorities.

• Strong orientation toward reuse, standardization and simplification.

• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable operating in global, complex and safety-critical environments.

• English proficiency is mandatory, both written and spoken.
