Application Engineer

Responsibilities

• Interpret client inquiries and translate them into technical solutions that:
• Meet client technical requirements
• Comply with customer specifications
• Conform to applicable industry standards
• Design and engineer custom-built industrial thermal process equipment
• Perform engineering calculations related to:
  • Radiant and convective heat transfer
  • Combustion systems
  • System hydraulics
• Develop optimized technical concepts to solve complex engineering challenges
• Conduct value engineering and cost optimization
• Review and reconcile client specifications with applicable industry codes and internal standards
• Design modifications and upgrades for existing equipment
• Specify auxiliary systems and engineered components (e.g., fans, drives, heat exchangers, emissions control systems, burners, instrumentation)
• Develop bills of materials and issue supplier inquiries
• Evaluate and condition supplier quotations
• Prepare detailed project cost estimates and project schedules
• Develop technical and commercial proposals
• Support contract negotiations while managing commercial and technical risk
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, engineering, procurement, project execution teams, and suppliers
• Support commissioning and startup activities when required
• Act as the primary technical and commercial point of contact for clients throughout the sales cycle
• Contribute to business development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and technical consultations
• Contribute to the integration and improvement of engineering tools and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve proposal turnaround times

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial heat transfer or thermal process equipment
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects involving custom engineering design
• Strong customer relationship management and client-facing experience
• Proven time management and organizational skills
• Familiarity with international design codes and standards (e.g., pressure vessel, piping, and material standards)
• Experience with field service, commissioning support, or troubleshooting of thermal process equipment is considered an advantage
• Experience designing fired thermal equipment is considered an advantage
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• High level of initiative with a continuous improvement mindset
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player capable of working independently and leading projects
• Willingness to travel as required by the role.
