With the innovative waste-water treatment installation of LyondellBasell, waste water of Port of Rotterdam is converted into clean energy. This provides 0.9 petajoules of energy annually, which is used in a circular manner to provide sites at Port of Rotterdam with energy. A saving of 140,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to taking 31,000 cars off the road.
The waste-water treatment plant – which was completed in 2021 – contributes enormously to the company’s energy targets. In addition to the 0.9 petajoules of energy that will be generated from wastewater (by way of comparison: Port of Rotterdam is aiming for a total saving of 2 petajoules), 11 million kilos of salt residue will not end up in surface water.
Actemium was commissioned for the measurement and control technology and commissioning of the Circular Steam Project. The adjustment and control of all technology in the innovative installation and the commissioning was a precise job. The entire team of experienced E&I Technicians and Commissioners was supplied by STAR.
