As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product safety within complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects
  • Develop and maintain project-specific safety plans (e.g. Safety Management Plan)
  • Perform and coordinate safety assessments across the full project lifecycle
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate risks using methods such as HAZOP, FMEA, and Fault Tree Analysis
  • Define and implement risk mitigation measures for integrated systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g. Machinery Directive)
  • Assess and approve design changes with potential safety impact
  • Coordinate safety-related activities across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Interface with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies
  • Provide safety assurance documentation and support audits and certifications
  • Monitor and track safety actions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Escalate unacceptable risks and deviations from safety requirements
  • Coach and advise project teams on product safety topics
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent technical level)
  • Several years of relevant experience in engineering, system integration, or EPC projects
  • Strong multidisciplinary technical understanding (mechanical, electrical, controls)
  • Knowledge of the Machinery Directive and applicable safety standards
  • Experience with risk assessment methodologies (e.g. FMEA, HAZOP, Fault Tree Analysis)
  • Understanding of system integration rather than pure product development
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to interpret and apply safety procedures in non-standard project environments
  • Good communication skills in an international and cross-functional setting
  • Experience with safety lifecycle management is a plus
  • Familiarity with industrial systems such as energy systems, control systems, or rotating equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership within projects
