Senior Mechanical Engineer

As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparation, checking, and approval of technical datasheets, material requisitions, and vendor document reviews for rotating equipment
• Engineering of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, centrifugal and rotary pumps, and centrifugal fans
• Act as Package Engineer for specialized units such as Water Treatment, Air Compressor packages, and Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers, including vendor documentation, FAT, and SAT
• Lead engineering activities through Pre-FEED (Concept Development), FEED, and Detailed Engineering phases
• Perform cost estimations, price benchmarking, and technical bid evaluations for high-value packages
• Provide engineering support during Refinery Turnarounds (TAR), including FAT, SAT, and resolving complex site queries
• Act as lead rotating representative in safety review meetings such as HAZOP and SIL, ensuring integration with other engineering disciplines

Requirements

• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering
• 10–15 years of professional design experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Renewables projects
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in the Netherlands
• Expertise in international and local standards such as API, EN, and PGS for rotating equipment
• Knowledge of European directives such as Machinery Directive, ATEX, and PED (mandatory)
• Strong experience handling process packages
• Valid VCA certificate (Diploma Veiligheid voor Operationeel Leidinggevenden)
• Own car and availability to be on-sit 3–4 days per week
• English required; professional-level Dutch preferred
• Experience with maintenance philosophies, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and troubleshooting of rotating equipment is a strong asset
