Senior Gasification Specialist

As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and compare different gasification technologies for biomass conversion and sustainable fuel production.
• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility evaluations related to gasification solutions and process concepts.
• Support the project team in selecting the most suitable gasification technology from both technical and commercial perspectives.
• Participate in technical discussions and meetings with gasification technology suppliers and licensors.
• Review and challenge technical proposals, process concepts, and supplier recommendations.
• Provide expert guidance regarding:
  • gasification processes
  • reactors
  • catalysts
  • hydrocracking-related interfaces
  • process integration
  • industrial scalability
• Identify technical risks, operational challenges, and potential bottlenecks in proposed solutions.
• Advise the project organization on best practices for large-scale industrial implementation and process plant design.
• Support early-stage project development and concept engineering activities.
• Contribute with refinery, petrochemical, biofuel, or heavy process industry expertise to strengthen decision-making in the project.
• Collaborate closely with:
  • project management
  • process engineers
  • technical stakeholders
  • external technology providers
• Provide strategic technical input related to future energy transition solutions, including:
  • biomass conversion
  • sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)
  • carbon capture related opportunities
• Support the project during the pre-FEED / early development phase leading up to future investment decisions.

Requirements

• Strong expertise within gasification technologies and industrial process systems.
• Senior-level experience from:
  • refinery
  • petrochemical
  • biofuel
  • heavy process industry
• Ability to evaluate and compare different gasification solutions and technologies.
• Experience participating in technical discussions with technology suppliers and licensors.
• Strong understanding of:
  • reactors
  • catalysts
  • hydrocracking-related processes
  • large-scale industrial process plants
• Ability to support technical decision-making in early project phases.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with project management and technical teams.
• Fluent English communication skills (project language is mainly English).
• Ability to work in an advisory/SME-type role rather than only operational engineering work.
