Piping Engineer

As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D piping layouts independently, from basic design through to detailed engineering.
• Translate P&IDs, work descriptions, customer requirements and site information into technically sound and practical designs.
• Conduct site surveys, field verification and on-site assessments of existing installations and design requirements.
• Translate field conditions and site data into practical, constructable piping designs.
• Prepare cost estimates and contribute to quotation and project preparation activities.
• Create, check and review piping isometrics and perform 3D model reviews.
• Work with 3D scans and process site data to support accurate and efficient design work.
• Coordinate technical matters and design decisions directly with clients.
• Supervise and guide designers within projects where required.
• Collaborate closely with other disciplines, including Process and Structural Engineering.
• Contribute to technical decisions, constructability, planning, cost control and overall project execution.
• Monitor the quality, planning and progress of engineering deliverables.
• Identify when pipe stress analysis is required and coordinate the analysis with specialist engineers.
• Work with engineering and design tools including AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD and Navisworks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering or a comparable technical field.
• Relevant experience in Piping Design, 3D piping design and field engineering activities.
• Hands-on field experience, with the ability to work on-site, verify existing conditions and translate field findings into engineering solutions.
• Good understanding of piping layouts, isometrics and structural principles.
• Strong technical and practical approach, with the ability to independently take ownership of projects and make sound engineering decisions.
• Experience communicating with clients and coordinating technical aspects of projects.
• Practical, solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on quality and constructability.
• VOL-VCA certification, or willingness to obtain this certification.
• Affinity with sustainability and innovation within the industrial sector.
• Willingness to work at client sites on an occasional basis.
• Candidate must be located in the Netherlands.
