As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement automation solutions using PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
  • Create functional descriptions, I/O lists, cause & effect charts, and control strategies.
  • Ensure automation systems meet Swedish and international standards (IEC, ISO, EN, ATEX).
  • Design & Engineering Execution
  • Participate in the early design and specification phase of automation projects.
  • Prepare design documents, control philosophies, and system architecture drawings.
  • Select appropriate hardware, software, and communication solutions in line with project requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk analyses, and ensure design alignment with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Support handover to implementation teams by providing clear documentation and technical guidance.
  • Optimization & Innovation
  • Drive continuous improvement by integrating IoT, smart sensors, and data analytics.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and contribute to sustainability targets.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures for industrial control systems.
  • Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Provide technical support to production, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in automation engineering within manufacturing, energy, life sciences, or process industries.
  • Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of PLC/SCADA/DCS platforms (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Rockwell, Beckhoff).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).
  • Understanding of functional safety (SIL, IEC 61508/61511) and CE marking requirements.
  • Familiarity with robot programming, motion control, or MES systems is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), Swedish is a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
