As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

 
  • Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for assigned procurement portfolios.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations, qualification processes, and performance management activities.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and lead high-value contract discussions with key suppliers and senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business requirements and operational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost competitiveness, mitigate supply risks, and challenge existing sourcing approaches.
  • Monitor market trends, conduct benchmarking and market intelligence activities, and leverage supplier innovation.
  • Support budgeting and price forecasting activities for assigned categories.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, sustainability objectives, procurement policies, and governance standards.
  • Coordinate the implementation of regional or global agreements, including systems updates and stakeholder communication.
  • Drive change management initiatives and influence cross-functional teams to achieve procurement objectives.

Requirements

 
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or category management within the petrochemical, manufacturing, or similar industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic sourcing projects and managing multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP procurement processes, including SAP MM and procure-to-pay workflows.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multinational and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in supplier management, market analysis, and procurement strategy development.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, ESG considerations, and compliance within procurement is advantageous.
  • Additional Information
  • Based in the Netherlands with a hybrid or office-based working environment.
  • Occasional travel of up to approximately 25% may be required.
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the Netherlands without current or future sponsorship requirements.
  • Regular Monday to Friday availability is expected.
