Responsibilities

  • Renewable Products Trade Support Analyst - Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • 6-month contract with option to extend
  • STAR is seeking a Trade Support Analyst to support its clients Renewable Products Trading team in Amsterdam.
  • This role sits at the intersection of trading, operations, scheduling, and risk management, supporting daily trading activity across physical and derivative renewable fuel markets. The successful candidate will act as a key operational and commercial control point, ensuring trading activity is accurately captured, validated, reconciled, and reported.
  • The position offers exposure to renewable fuels value chains including biodiesel, renewable diesel, feedstocks, and related logistics and pricing activities within Chevron’s global Supply & Trading organization.
  • Responsibilities
  • Trade Validation & Pricing Control
    • Independently validate pricing of physical and derivative trades using contractual pricing formulas
    • Verify correct application of:
    • Pricing dates and contract month logic
    • Laycan and delivery terms
    • Density and temperature basis (in air vs. in vac where applicable)
    • Currency conversions and unit normalization
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between contractual agreements and trade capture data
  • Trade Capture & Data Integrity
    • Ensure accurate trade capture within trading systems, including:
    • Quantities
    • Prices and pricing formulas
    • Incoterms and delivery structures
    • Counterparties and contract terms
    • Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, and operational control
  • Exposure & Performance Monitoring
    • Support daily position reconciliation and exposure monitoring
    • Track and report P&L drivers including market price movements and operational variances
    • Support traders and management with analysis and reporting to improve commercial decision-making
  • Operational & Commercial Support
    • Provide cargo tracking and vessel status updates to trading and operations teams
    • Coordinate with scheduling, logistics, finance, and risk teams to support smooth trade execution
    • Assist in identifying operational risks, process gaps, and control weaknesses
  • Governance & Process Excellence
    • Support onboarding and periodic review of counterparties in line with KYC requirements
    • Design, document, and maintain clear operational workflows and process documentation
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of trading controls, reporting processes, and data integrity

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline
  • Experience within commodity trading, trade support, trade control, operations, scheduling, or commercial support environments
  • Experience within Oil & Gas, LNG, renewable fuels, or broader energy commodity markets is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Trade lifecycle processes
    • Pricing structures and formulas
    • Contract terms and operational controls
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics concepts including laycan, cargo tracking, vessel operations, or nominations is advantageous
  • Understanding of exposure management, reconciliation, risk management, and P&L attribution
  • Experience with trading systems such as RightAngle, Allegro, SAP, Endur, or similar platforms is preferred
  • Familiarity with renewable fuels regulations and European compliance frameworks (e.g. RED II / RED III) is considered a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Fluent English required; Dutch language skills are considered a plus
  • Available to work onsite in Amsterdam 4 days per week, Friday work from home.
