Responsibilities

  • The Project Engineer will take part in a very large scale EPC project; 
  • The Project Engineer will work with a team of Project Engineers and act as focal point with the Execute contractor to ensure project cost, schedule and quality remain on track;
  • The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager;
  • The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager, in the performance of his/her duties, deputising as required;
  • The Project Engineer works closely with the Execute contractor to ensure that all Project Engineering issues are properly resolved promptly, that design changes are managed correctly, and that the facilities comply with all project and statutory requirements and Stakeholder expectations;
  • The Project Engineer monitors design and procurement work performed by the Execute Contractors and other third-party designers/vendors, providing oversight and guidance, ensuring that all work satisfies project specifications and standards;
  • The Project Engineer oversees the work of the Document Controllers and the document flow from contractors, vendors, licensors and other stakeholders to the  Project Delivery Team  and vice versa to support the project progress and quality requirements.
  • Internal factors:
    • Safety Performance (SHE)
    • Perform project on budget and on schedule
    • The largest overall construction project undertaken by the client
    • Ensure the technology selected and the plant constructed meet the key deliverables 
  • External factors:
    • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, prior to and post start-up
    • Purchasing environment including availability of engineering and construction companies as well as of material
    • Labour market – availability of quality, reliable personnel / contractors
    • Site partner relationships, if any

Requirements

  • Major project experience with strong design engineering/procurement background and a broad understanding of multiple disciplines and their interfaces;
  • Proven track record of delivering leading SHE performance;
  • Experience supervising work in a Contractor’s Design Office;
  • Experience in field engineering and/or construction on a major Construction Site;
  • Degree qualified and chartered or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline;
  • More than 15 years’ experience in an Engineering role in an Oil, Gas or Petrochemical setting;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills;
  • Strong planning and organizing ability;
  • Highly motivated, achievement-oriented;
  • Ability to interface effectively with people of all levels, both internal and third parties, and with wide-ranging cultural backgrounds;
  • Able to define and prioritize issues and then solve the problems through networking with other team members or external sources;
  • Innovative, with an eye for identifying opportunities to reduce costs and challenge the status quo;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Dutch is a very big plus.
