Verantwoordelijkheden

• As the System Safety Engineer, you will lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with the highest industry standards. If you have a strong background in safety engineering and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you
• Conducting hazard analyses such as HAZOP, FTA, and FMEA to proactively identify risks in naval systems.
• Ensuring compliance with international safety standards, including IEC 61508 and MIL-Std-882E.
• Developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies to enhance system safety.
• Maintaining structured and traceable hazard documentation, utilizing an established risk matrix.
• Collaborating with engineering teams to integrate safety requirements seamlessly into system designs.
• Defining and documenting comprehensive system safety requirements tailored for naval vessels.
• Acting as the primary contact for system safety matters, both internally and with external stakeholders.
• Promoting a strong safety culture through training, awareness programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Leading the system safety engineering team, integrating safety processes into standard operations.
• Providing mentorship and coaching to team members while contributing to performance appraisals and professional development.
• Driving continuous improvement within the department by refining safety processes.
• Ensuring strict adherence to HSSEQ / IMED policies and procedures.

Vereisten

• Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant technical field.
• Extensive experience in system safety engineering, ideally within shipbuilding or naval defence.
• Strong expertise in system safety analysis methodologies and standards such as IEC 61508, MIL-Std-882E, and the Machine Directive.
• Proven experience leading high-performing teams, with excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems engineering.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Requirements Management Tools.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; German language skills are a plus.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
