Responsibilities

  • Participation in all relevant meetings
  • Coordination of the commissioning activities
  • Continuous information of and communication / coordination with the Customer, especially for interface managements and utilities (e.g. release of pipelines, electric power, etc.)
  • Support of the clientat technical clarification meetings with the vendors, its subcontractors and other 3rd parties involved (3rd party inspection body, authorities, consultants, etc.) at site, occasionally if required by the project management in other places
  • Leading and preparation of the daily, weekly / monthly commissioning meetings and audits
  • Leading and preparation of the daily, weekly and monthly commissioning log (commissioning logbook)
  • Participation in monitoring the fulfilment of the contractual agreements between client and the vendors during the commissioning phase until acceptance.
  • Supervise that only documents with “ready for commissioning” (or equivalent) release are used; verify suitable distribution of all required documents in the latest version
  • Manage correct execution change procedures
  • Manage transition periods, e.g. from commissioning to start-up phase; clarification of responsibilities at site for each phase
  • Tracking the scheduling chain (commissioning, trial run, acceptance) of the vendor and its subcontractors
  • Immediate information to the Project Management about significant events, the impact on technical, scheduling and commercial agreements or decisions.
  • Collect information/data for Claim Management
  • Identification and detection of damage and defects, as well as non-contractual execution. Guidance of a LOP list and a punch list of remaining defects.
  • Tracking and monitoring the removing of damages and defects, as well as non-contractual execution.
  • Participate in Setting-up the commissioning procedure in close coordination with theclient  and vendors, Project Manager, mandated specialists, and the Customer
  • Verify and comment the commissioning and start-up procedures of the vendors as well as the performance test procedure, supported if required by mandated specialists

Requirements

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering or comparable
  • Valid SCC certificate or Belgian equivalent
  • Several years of professional experience in the commissioning or operation of energy generation systems (Biomass, coal fired power plants, CCGT, …)
  • Knowledge of operating modern process control systems (Siemens PCS-7)
  • High level of awareness of occupational safety as well as health and environmental protection
  • High sense of responsibility and pronounced flexibility
  • Deep knowledge of the applicable international and Belgian legislation
  • Fluent English in speaking and writing; base knowledge of Dutch language
  • “Hands-on” mentality, target-oriented work behaviour and being a good team player
