Senior Piping Designer

  • Independently prepare piping layouts of moderate to complex piping systems in 3D (piping layout and equipment modeling ) using 3D design software like S3D or E3D;
  • Perform layout studies from scratch, make transposition to identify critical / plot defining line routing & equipment location;
  • Conversant & hands on with 2D drafting software like AutoCAD or MicroStation;
  • Check concrete and steel design drawings;
  • Perform squad check of vendor drawings and drawings from other disciplines;
  • Review fabricator drawings;
  • Assist the Design Supervisor, as required;
  • Provide direction to, and guidance on, 2D and 3D CAD design;
  • Conduct or assist in model review using SPR or Navisworks; 
  • prepare manual MTO based on transpositions/ studies;
  • Provide working and direct supervision and provide guidance/assistance to all project designers including distributed execution offices;
  • Conduct site walks to collect necessary field information (on space availability, location of tie in, piping configuration etc.), understand maintenance & operation philosophy from client team & prepare mark up/ adaptation drawings to pass on the information to rest of the design team;
  • Produce and check complex piping drawings including plot plans, piping plans, isometrics and sketches Interface with other design disciplines;
  • Actively participate in Fluor’s Knowledge Community and other available resources;
  • Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals;
  • Participate in department training programs/seminars and on-line training


  • Middle Tech School;
  • At least 10 years of work-related experience;
  • Knowledge of piping components, commercial availability;
  • Working knowledge of and ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), Mechanical Equipment drawings, plot plan, equipment layouts, piping general arrangement drawings & other discipline drawings and vendor documentation;
  • Experienced in greenfield & brownfield project execution;
  • Hands on experience in 3D software like S3D, E3D etc.;
  • Hands on experience in 2D cad tools like AutoCAD, MicroStation etc.;
  • Knowledge of work processes and basic understanding of stress and material engineering operations;
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written. Dutch and/ or German are preferred;
  • Flexible and willing to travel;
  • Preferred candidate lives in Europe;
  • Experience with Scrum, Lean, Agile Methodologies or willingness to learn in practice.
