Project Engineer Boilers & Turbines

Responsibilities

As Boiler & Turbine package Engineer, the tasks are to review and take ownership in a first stance of the existing technical specs, the package contract proposal and all technical documents related to the boiler & turbine package. Hereafter, the job is to follow-up and challenge the boiler & turbine contractor. As Technical expert, the job is to support the various departments in order to deliver a durable, reliable, economically viable and easy-to-operate & maintain installation that complies with clients quality and safety standards. More precisely, to assist in all the matters related to the mechanical design, performance data, operational matters, start-up procedures. Including all legal and regulatory aspects related to structural and mechanical design. In particular, the expert will be working closely with the process engineer during the commissioning and start-up phase. Monitoring all phases of the project, from contract signature to the handover of work, including the contracting phase, the detailed design, the construction phase, the commissioning and start-up phase :

• Ensure the consistency of the design and implementation of the various work packages, and together with engineering manager, check and review al interfaces between packages
• Review of engineering documents for the process package to ensure compliance with clients contracts, performance criteria, environmental, legal and quality requirements.
• Follow-up the actions lists and scrutinize interfaces - be responsible for the punch items of his package
• Technical management of external consultancies and approved bodies.
• Based on its own expertise, advise project engineers so that they can reach a conclusion or take a decision.
• Assisting the PM, EM and CM with the management and coordination of contractors, both for technical and contractual aspects.
• Lead the progress meeting for the Boiler & turbine work package. Draft the progress reports and monitor all documents requested by the PM or the Steering Committee.
• Participation in regular (weekly) technical meetings for the other work packages.
• Participation in regular coordination and progress meetings (weekly) with the project team.
• Assist & coordinate the training of the operational personnel during start-up phase.

Requirements

• master degree engineering - specialty industrial processes, thermodynamics, piping, mechanical design
• In-depth knowledge of the process industry, process engineering and industrial projects
• In-depth technical and functional knowledge of thermal treatment technologies for waste and/or biomass: combustion, heat recovery, energy recovery, flue gas treatment, etc.
• Knowledge of "technical" analysis methods specific to multidisciplinary projects: HAZID, HAZOP, ATEX, SIL, etc.
• Preferably bilingual French/English
• At least 10 years' experience in process design, including at least 5 years in the field of heat and power generation: power plant, waste incineration, biomass, etc.
• Having a primary focus on safety, both in design and in construction
• Rigour and leadership.
• Good communication skills with the project team and with companies.
• Good presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to provide solutions to problems.
