Principal Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• We are currently recruiting for the position Principal Process Engineer for the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase of Project Capture, with the possibility for prolonging to EPC phase of the project. 
• As a Principal Process Engineer for the FEED phase from the operator's perspective, the primary responsibility is to ensure that the engineering and design activities meet the operational requirements and standards of the company.
• You will play a crucial role in the initial project phase, working closely with the engineering and design teams to develop a robust and efficient process design that aligns with the company's objectives and long-term operational goals.
• Provide FEED contractors with technical information. Collaborate with operations teams to gather input on their specific needs and challenges.
• Collaborate with the FEED engineering team to develop and refine process designs for the project.
• Review FEED contractor process deliverables. Participate in discussion / development of performance test guidelines / performance guarantees from FEED contractor.
• Ensure that process designs are compliant with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
• Identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in the process design.
• Actively participate in PFD / PID / 3D model etc. reviews and identify any possible deficiencies.
• Evaluate process designs for safety and environmental compliance.
• Actively participate in HAZOP/ SIL to identify potential safety and environmental issues.
• Work with the team to implement safety measures and mitigation strategies.
• Utilize process simulation software (Aspen) to model and analyze the behavior of the proposed processes.
• Ensure that the simulations are aligned with actual operational conditions and constraints.
• Provide ongoing support to the project team throughout the FEED phase.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, Civil, HSE) to ensure an integrated approach to project design.

Requirements

• You are based within Europe already;
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in process engineering.
• Previous experience in carbon capture or similar industries is preferred. EPC experience is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of industry-specific standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Must have valid VCA-VOL certificate.
• Must be willing to make occasional visits to contractor sites.
• Fluent in English.
